Day 505 - Stop! Hanover time.
Howdy fellow Americans. I'm in Hanover, NH this week for work. This is my first time back in the states in 14+ months. I am giddy. This morning I went to CVS and I was like my Mom in the butterfly house. I think the staff thought that there was something wrong with me.
I actually said the words "you have no idea how happy I am to be in a CVS". I might go back this afternoon. There is something wrong with me. I'm going to be able to eat American breakfast today! I can hardly contain myself.
I'm going to drink Mountain Dew today!
I'm going to watch basketball at a normal time!

Day 501 - Eurovision Island
We mentioned Eurovision a couple of times last year. It's sort of like the Olympics meets American Idol. Countries put forth a competitor, there's voting, and we crown a champion.
Last year's winner hailed from Denmark which means that this year's contest took place right here in København. Emily and I didn't attend any of the events, but we did see this.
Excellently, this year's winner is Austrian transvestite Tom Neuwirth / Conchita Wurst! Take that Vladimir Putin! Conchita is Neuwirth's invention and translates as...

During Eurovision week, the 9A's new destination was Eurovision Island. I don't know why this amuses me. It sounds like a failed EPCOT attraction. Located right next to Captain EO.

While in German, Wurst means 'sausage,' the performer compares the choice of last name to the common German expression 'Das ist mir doch alles Wurst,' which translates as 'it's all the same to me,' and 'I don't care,' stating that the name emerged from the first meaning of the expression and added, "It doesn't really matter where one comes from, and what one looks like." In the same interview the performer stated that the first name was from a Cuban friend.Congratulations to Conchita and Austria!

Day 492 - Cinco de Mayo for Gringos
It's probably weird and not very Mexican at all that I find celebrating Cinco to be, way more than I thought, a bit of home. So much so that I made a michelada with Carlsberg!
I think it worked out. I also made some tinga with nakkefilet. It's a bit like shoulder but the texture / fat content isn't quite right. It works. To note, please be careful when pronouncing nakkefilet.

Day 489 - MUSIKFREDAG
I was looking for a particular WhoMadeWho track that I heard on Danish radio the other day, so we'll have to go with a couple that I have less experience with. We were listening to radio and I said to Ander - I swear I've heard this before, it's from the 80s, right? Nope, it's a current Danish band. We'll settle for these few tracks that I haven't had much experience with.
Josh Homme has covered this one. The bass-line in the original somehow reminds me of Muse. Sometimes they sound more electro-pop-y - think an 80s-er Phoenix.
This one sounds even more Muse-y. I would like to go and find the song I'm thinking about.
